What is a Prosthodontist

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and restoration of missing or damaged teeth and facial structures. They have completed 3 years of additional training beyond dental school in the field of prosthodontics, such as:

  • Dental implant prosthetics: Working with surgeons and restoring dental implants to replace one or many missing teeth.
  • Crowns and bridges: Restoring damaged teeth and replacing missing teeth with prosthetic structures, ranging from single crowns to full mouth restorations.
  • Dentures & partials: Providing removable artificial prosthetics to replace multiple missing teeth.

Prosthodontists are skilled in providing comprehensive care for patients, from those who need only cleanings to those with more complex dental needs. They collaborate with other dental professionals, such as general dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists, orthodontists, and endodontists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
